If you give a senior the choice of going to a portrait studio for senior pictures or picking a location they like (e.g., a downtown or park), most would choose to go some place fun and interesting. Our senior Photo Walks often take place in downtown areas because they offer a wide variety of natural and built backdrops. A historic brick wall or cool back alley can become an amazing setting for a unique portrait.

The key goal behind our photo walks is making the experience and the portraits as unique as the high school senior. If you want your portraits to be unique, give us a call or send an email. We will meet or talk by phone and develop a plan to create amazing senior portraits.

If you need the traditional yearbook photo with a plain backdrop, we can do that too. Most schools do not require you to use their photographer for senior pictures. They generally require photos for the yearbook to have a certain color background. We will set up a portable backdrop and studio lighting setup to provide you with the yearbook portrait you need.

The best photographer in Detroit?  The answer, as with almost any profession, depends upon the assignment.   For example, if you are looking for a Detroit area senior photographer, look at the high school senior portfolio of the photographer and see if it reflects the style you are looking for.  Give the photographer a call and see if they are personable, professional, and interested.  Does this person sound like someone you or your child would feel comfortable with?  If the answer is yes, ask about arranging a meeting to talk about the session, get pointers, and introduce your son or daughter to the photographer.  If you and your child don’t come away from the meeting with a good feeling, you should keep looking.   Technical skills are a significant part of the evaluation criteria, but personality and professionalism are just as important in the search for a final product that is extraordinary.

The above approach can be used for other types  of assignments.  Look at the style of photography first.  This will help you create a short list…then a personal phone call is the next step.  You will not only start to get a personal impression of the photographer, you can also get details on pricing, turn-around time, digital rights, and more.
